A data analyst based in Merseyside, working across the North West.
Data Insights North West is based in Merseyside and works with businesses across Liverpool, Warrington, Wigan and the wider North West — plus UK-wide, remotely, wherever the work is.
Based in Merseyside. Genuinely covers the wider North West.
Most of this work happens over email, a call and a screen share, so being based in Merseyside doesn't limit who I can work with — it just means I'm a local business myself, not a national agency with a regional sales patch.
Merseyside & Liverpool City Region
Liverpool, St Helens, Widnes, Runcorn and the wider Wirral — the core area, and where an in-person meeting is easiest to arrange if one's useful.
Greater Manchester & Cheshire
Warrington, Wigan, Bolton, Manchester and Chester — all within easy reach for a site visit, and no different to work with remotely either.
Wider North West & UK-wide
Southport, Preston, and further afield across the North West as needed. Beyond that, UK-wide, entirely remotely — the work itself doesn't change with distance.
Why location rarely matters for this kind of work.
Reporting and analysis work is almost entirely about data, not premises. A secure file transfer or a read-only connection to your source system, a call to talk through what you need, and a shared screen when it's useful to look at something together — that covers nearly every project, wherever you're based.
Data comes to me securely
Spreadsheet exports, CSVs or a direct read-only connection to a database — sent or shared the way that suits your systems, not mine.
Findings come back the same way
Reports, dashboards and explanations delivered the way you'll actually use them, with a call to walk through anything that needs discussing rather than just reading.
The kind of requests I'm set up to answer.
Smaller North West businesses tend to ask for the same handful of things — not because the area is different, but because this is the size of business where reporting gets built by hand and then never quite kept up with.
"Our reporting takes too long to put together"
A report that's rebuilt from scratch every week or month, usually by copying and pasting from two or three places, is exactly the kind of thing I automate.
"Two of our systems don't agree"
Common with a CRM, an accounts package and a spreadsheet all tracking the same activity slightly differently. I find where they diverge and why.
"We don't have anyone who really knows Excel or Power BI"
Most small teams have no in-house analyst. I build the report and set it up so it keeps running without one.
"We need to understand our bank statements or cashflow properly"
Turning raw bank statement data into a categorised income and outgoings picture, often for affordability or lending purposes.
Why a local freelance analyst is often the better fit.
Cost
A fixed price for the piece of work you need, agreed up front — not an agency day rate, and not the salary, National Insurance and overhead of a full-time hire for work that doesn't need a full-time person.
Flexibility
Take on a single one-off report, or move to a monthly retainer for ongoing upkeep, and change your mind later — retainers are rolling monthly with 30 days' notice, no minimum term.
No recruitment
No job advert, no interview process, no wait for someone to start. The work begins with a conversation and a look at your data, not a hiring process.
Local FAQ.
Do you only work with businesses in Merseyside?
No. Merseyside is where I'm based, and it's genuinely convenient for an in-person meeting if one's useful, but most projects across the North West and further afield are handled the same way regardless of where you are — over email, a call and a shared screen.
Will you travel to us, or is everything done remotely?
Both are possible. For businesses in Liverpool, St Helens, Warrington, Wigan, Widnes, Runcorn, Southport, the Wirral, Chester, Manchester, Preston or Bolton, an in-person visit can usually be arranged if it helps — for example, to see how data currently gets collected. For everyone else, the work runs entirely remotely, and most North West clients find remote just as straightforward once the first call is done.
How does remote data analysis actually work in practice?
You share the data you already have — a spreadsheet export, a CSV, or read-only access to a system — and I build the report or run the analysis from that. Calls and screen shares cover anything that needs discussing. Nothing about the process requires being in the same room.
Is our data safe if we send it to you?
Yes. Your data is treated as strictly confidential, used only for the work you've asked for, and handled in line with UK GDPR. It's returned or securely deleted on request once the work is complete, and it's never used, published or referenced for anything else.
How do we get started?
Get in touch and describe what your reporting looks like today, or what you're trying to work out. The first conversation and an initial look at your data are free, and you'll get a fixed price for any project work before anything starts. I reply within one working day.
Local, remote, or both — let's talk about your data.
Tell me where you're based and what your reporting looks like today. I'll tell you honestly how I'd help — free, and no pressure.
